Talia laughed and nudged his knee with her own. When he glanced over at her, she smiled and ducked her head. She slid a little closer to him and laid her head against his shoulder. He moved to put his arm around her and her muscles tensed. Slipping his arm around her waist, he drew her up against him. He shouldn't hold her like this. Already too attached to her, he needed to keep his distance. But a few minutes couldn't hurt, right?

He was just making sure she wasn't cold. That was it. "You warm enough?"

"Mmmhmm," she murmured. She relaxed into his side and brought her hand up to rest on his chest. He ached for her to slide that little hand inside his shirt like she did the night they met.

She brought her gaze up to meet his in the flickering light of the fire. "Sean, I have to ask…"

He brought his hand up to cup her cheek. She closed her eyes, leaned into his touch, and he groaned. Her soft curves pressed against his side when she shifted against him. She tugged at his neck, pulling his head down toward her. Even a saint couldn't resist her when that little tongue darted out, licking her lips in anticipation.

And he was no saint.

On Vacations and New Releases

I hope you are enjoying the pleasures of summer as much as I am. We have just return from our annual pilgrimage north of the Mason-Dixon line. Let me tell you- when you leave ten days straight of near 100 degree temperatures and arrive in 65 degrees and rainy it is quite the shock to the system. I actually had to go and buy some pants and sweatshirts for the kids while we were away.

It was a great trip though, spending time with long distance family, visiting all of our favorite places and sneaking off to indulge in some farm fresh ice cream.

While we were away, my very first serial novel, Tormented was released. Former special forces turned rancher Ben Callahan finally meets a woman that helps him put his demons to rest.  Meet Ben and Layla on Amazon today. A Sanguine Gem Cover Reveal

I stopped this morning to grab a cup of unsweet iced tea on the way to work. Living in the South, it is almost a felony to drink unsweet tea but I was born a Yankee and as long as I have lived in the South some Yankee traits just stay with me. Like a preference for unsweet tea and a love of good Italian food.

One thing I do love about the South that seriously lacks in my home state is the manners.People greet you with a hello and a smile, tell you to have a nice day AND mean it!  It still surprises me when, like this morning, men hold doors for me or allow me to pass by first or say excuse me if they bump into me. On my way in to get my tea this morning, two men held doors for me with a smile. There is nothing like a little Southern chivalry. I think that's why I love a good romance, especially a good historical romance- because I like to think that chivalry and romance are not dead.

I love cover reveals!

As an author, one of the most exciting moments of publication is when I see that first draft of a new book cover. I can't wait to see how the graphic artist has interpreted my story into a beautiful, eye catcthing cover. It makes the whole story more real for me.
