✦SYNOPSIS✦

All Jessy Wallace wants is a happy marriage, but her husband is a liar and in over his head…

Jessy has spent the last decade happily married to her husband, Sam. But when she finally lands a job at Dixie’s Place, a hole-in-the-wall diner, she learns not all is well in paradise. Officer Sam Wallace has been spending the majority of their marriage in the beds of other women. Fed up, Jessy kicks her husband to the curb.

The last thing she wants is another messy relationship…

Uncertain if her husband ever truly loved her, Jessy gets caught completely off guard by the intense attraction she feels for Trey Smith, the night cook at Dixie’s Place. But she recognizes some telltale signs, and discovers he’s an undercover FBI agent. Jessy curses herself for falling for another lawman. To make matters worse, her soon-to-be ex-husband might be involved with Trey’s case.

After the death of his wife, FBI agent Trey Smith has spent the last four years married to his work…

But when Jessy starts waitressing at the diner where he is working undercover, he falls head over heels for her. Her ex-husband, however, is one of the top suspects in Trey’s case, and all Trey wants to do is protect her. He can’t lose this once in a lifetime chance at love.

Jessy is the soon-to-be ex-wife of a suspected criminal.

Trey Smith is an undercover FBI agent.

Can their love overcome the odds, or will it all come crashing down under the weight of lies and deception?

Dixie dumped her packages on the counter with a grunt. “Where the hell is that cook? Trey!

Trey’s appearance in the dining room was announced by the slam of the back door. His cheeks were red. Jessy caught sight of a cell phone sticking out of his shirt pocket. Trey rubbed his hands together.
“It’s mighty frosty out there tonight. Was just taking out the trash. You need something, Dix?”

“How many times have I told you not to call me that? It sounds too much like dicks.” She swatted at him but Trey sidestepped the hit.

“Aw lighten up, Dix, no one is going to think that of you.” Jessy experienced an annoying twinge of jealousy as Trey ran a long, lazy glance over Dixie’s body, making the woman flush a deep crimson which just made her look sexier. Jessy glanced down at her own, curveless frame and frowned. Life is so unfair.
“Just take this stuff into my office so I can sort it.”

“Sure thing. What’s in all these packages anyway?” Trey flipped open a box lid. “Christmas decorations?”

Dixie shrugged. “Well, yeah. It’s December.”

Trey rummaged around and pulled out an ornament of a tiny ballerina. “Shattered dreams going on the tree this year, Dixie?”

“Gimme that!” Dixie snatched the figure from Trey’s hand.

“Okay, so which one of us is the angel supposed to represent? Knowing all of you like I do, I have to go with the only logical conclusion. Me.”

“Yeah, ‘cause you’re a real angel all right.” Arnetta gave Trey a searing look, like the ones they write about in romance novels.

“You know nothing about my angel status.” Trey returned the angel to the box as he winked at Jessy. “That is a mystery that remains to be discovered. Oh wait, maybe this will help.”

“What is it?” Jessy, intrigued by the contents of the box as much as she was interested in just how much Arnetta knew about Trey’s status, stepped forward. Trey whipped around to face her, his hand on his head.

Only it wasn’t resting on his head. It held a little sprig of green vegetation in his hand and a grin on his face that rivaled that of the Chesire Cat. Mistletoe. Aw, crap.

“Oops, I’m stuck under some mistletoe. You know legend says I have to kiss the person nearest to me.” His eyes burned into Jessy’s skin as her cheeks heated to new proportions never before experienced.

“I don’t think that’s quite how it goes,” Arnetta said.

“Shut up! He’s about to have his meal!” Surrey whispered loudly behind Jessy.

“I think the legend says someone is supposed to kiss you.” Jessy looked into Trey’s  eyes without blinking.

“Breaking legend is bad luck. Very, very bad luck.”

“I think you mean tradition. It’s bad luck to break tradition.”

“Legend. Tradition. Whatever. All I know is you are leaving me hanging and potentially exposing both of us to many years of pain and suffering.”

Jessy could feel three sets of female eyes on her, but she only cared about Trey’s. His eyes were so warm and so welcoming, and they were doing things to her insides so she couldn’t think straight.

“Well, I guess we wouldn’t want that.” She rose up slightly on tip toe, closing some of the height gap between them.

“No. I guess not.” He leaned forward, closing just a little more of the distance.

“It’s never a good idea to tempt the fates.” Jessy heard three breaths sucked in as one.

“Nope. Definitely not.”
Freezing air wrapped around them as the sounds of laughter and chatter suddenly filled the diner.
“Show’s over, folks. Time to make some money.” Dixie grabbed a few bags and headed to her office.

“Trey! Get the rest of those boxes for me then get in the kitchen!”
Trey stepped back and lowered the mistletoe, never breaking eye contact with Jessy. “Yes, ma’am! I’m right behind you.”

He blew her a little kiss then stepped over to the counter, scooped up the boxes, and was gone before Jessy could remember to breathe.

Surrey was the first to grab up a notepad and take a table, but not before she whispered in Jessy’s ear, “Just like I said. Looks at you like his next meal.”

New Murder Mystery - "Witness Through TIme"

You don't want to miss this new mystery being released today by author Scott Wieczorek. When I first came across Witness Through Time it was described to me as a murder mystery with a hint of paranormal. Paranormal can mean so many things I really had no idea what to expect.

What you can expect- a book you absolutely can not put down. Right from the first couple of pages, the mystery is there. I love a book that literally sucks me into the story and makes me believe I am the main character. Mr. Wickzorek accomplishes this easily with his character Glory. To me, the hallmark of a good story teller is a book that you think about even when you aren't reading it. My time to read is at night, before I go to bed. All day long I find my mind wandering back to the story, anticipating what will happen as the story unfolds. The very best part? I am completely unable to predict the next event.

Meet the lady herself: Glory Parker

Glory Parker is the heroine of a new paranormal murder/mystery novel by author Scott Wieczorek. She is joining us here today to discuss a little bit about herself and the new novel. So please give her a warm welcome.

Q: So tell us about yourself.

My name is Glory Parker and my author named me in honor of his mother by using her middle name. I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts, and absolutely love New England in the fall. There is no greater place on earth for me than that. I just moved to a small town on the craggy Maine coast called Cragg's Head Cove to live with my sister and brother-in-law. Things weren't going so well for me in Boston. The dot-com I worked for went belly-up, and my life started falling apart. I needed a change of scenery and pace. So I packed up my life and moved.

Q: How are things working out for you?

Now that I've moved? I guess things are looking up. I live with my sister, brother-in-law, and niece, got a job at the local police station, and have a new love interest. I can't really complain.

Q: Love interest? Tell us about him.

His name is Jim. He is a police officer and we've only had a couple dates. But so far things seem to be looking good. He's a nice guy. And trust me, that's a refreshing change from the jerks I met in the city. I hope he turns out to be a keeper.

Q: So what's this about a special ability?

I'm not too sure about it myself. It still seems to be developing. For some strange reason, I can see things from the past. But not like in my mind's eye, or anything. Like I am there. In the moment. Living it! It's so strange, and it is taking some getting used to.

Q: So tell us a little about your new home. Tell us a little about Cragg's Head Cove.

Cragg's Head Cove is a small college town on the coast of Maine. Downeast, near Ellsworth. It's not too far from Bar Harbor, either. The college in town, Charlotte College, has become a year-round backbone to the community when the tourists are off-season. But then again, it's Maine—Vacationland. Tourists are almost never off-season.

The scenery is spectacular, and the people are nice. They've become accustomed to people from away, and thanks to the college, there are plenty of transplants, too. I like it. It has a much more laid-back pace compared to Boston. It's nice.

Q: Any plans on making this a permanent move?

I don't know. I'd like to. Things seem to be looking up for me here. I have a good job, my family close by, and a little romance. So long as things to fall apart—sure, why not.

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about the new novel you're in?

Witness Through Time? Yeah. It's great. I play the heroine in the story and I have to say, there's not a dull moment. From the beginning, it's go—go— go. Of course, I can't give away any details. If you want spoilers, you'll have to read the book. But it's a blast.

Q: One last question—What was one of the most embarrassing things your author did to you?

Most embarrassing? Let me think about that. I would have to say nearly drowning to death with my arm trapped in a cliff has to rank right up there. I have never felt so helpless before in my life, and that's not like me. I'm usually one tough character. But my author found a way so that I actually truly needed someone else. I have to say, it's a first for me.

Thank you Glory for joining us. For those of you just joining in, this has been an interview with Glory Parker from the new novel Witness Through Time by Scott Wieczorek.

When Glory Parker moves to the bucolic locale of Cragg's Head Cove, Maine, she uncovers a mystery that has remained unsolved for more than fifteen years—the disappearances of four college students with the perpetrator still on the loose. As the mystery unfolds around her, she becomes aware of her strange new ability to pierce the veil of time.
Can Glory solve the mystery before more people disappear?

In case that hasn't convinced you that you need to read this book, here is a little excerpt to entice you:

The glow of her headlights caught a gleam of metal ahead in the distance. A car was pulled over to the roadside. Could it be Jim? Did he decide not to head in to the station, but to wait for her? As she approached, the car came more clearly into view—definitely not Jim's.
Parked askew, it appeared the driver had pulled over in haste. The car's headlights remained on, but its taillights sat dark. She couldn't understand why someone would drive and abandon a car in such a dangerous way at night.
Against all her instincts and better judgment, she pulled off the road, grabbed her cell phone, and shut off her car. As it sputtered to a stop, it became apparent the other driver hadn't turned his engine off. Had something terrible happened? Its occupants couldn't be too far away. She reached into her center console and removed a flashlight before stepping out into the chilly night air.
She dialed Jim's number, hoping he still had his cell phone handy, but groaned at the dead air against her ear. A glance at the screen told her all she needed to know—no bars. How could that even be? She'd just received a text from Jim mere moments ago. She sighed, debating whether to drive a little further up the road to find better reception, or a phone booth. But something tugged at her; people probably needed help, and she couldn't just leave them here. With a shiver flitting up her spine, she stuffed the phone in her pocket and closed her car door.
As she stepped toward the embankment, the hackles stood on her neck. Something about the whole scene seemed wrong. Except for the low idle of the car, an eerie solitude settled about the place; not even the tree frogs croaked their mating songs in the night.
A scream pierced the stillness. She knew the sound—it didn't belong to any kind of animal; it belonged to a woman. She pulled her phone from her pocket. She dialed Jim's number again—still no reception.
Whipping her flashlight around, she pointed it to where the sound came from. Of course, it needed to be down the embankment. She slipped her phone into her pocket again; she would check for reception again later.
With a deep breath, she made her way down the steep roadside to the leaf-littered forest floor below. A quick examination of the slope as she went revealed another fresh path cut through the leaves, and snapped branches. Someone had crashed through here at high speed. Another scream caught her attention—a female voice, and definitely in trouble. Glory broke into a sprint, following the voice. She ran through the woods, branches whipping her face and brush grabbing her ankles.
"Somebody! Help me!"
The girl's scream sounded loud and clear. Something crashed in the leaves ahead, followed by a groan and sounds of struggle.
"Let me go, you bastard." The girl's voice echoed through the woods.
"Shut up!" The angry voice belonged to a male.
As her feet crashed through the leaves, she heard something like a meaty thud.
Glory stopped dead in her tracks, reached for her phone, and dialed 9-1-1. She pressed send—nothing again. Crap! She must still be in a dead spot. The irony struck her. If she didn't do something soon, then this would certainly be a dead spot for the girl. She needed to help—one way or another. Glory crept up, extinguishing her flashlight. She followed the sounds of struggle pierced by the girl's sobs and squeals.
"Yeah," said the male voice, "you go ahead and cry. Ain't nobody gonna help you." Glory could hear from the sound of his voice that he was enjoying himself.
The girl wailed, her voice carrying through the barren trees. The sharp clap of an open-handed slap echoed through the dark. Another wail flew into the night.
Glory could see the pair on the ground. The mousy young brunette girl lay on her back with a young man of average build atop her. He wore a backward baseball cap and Glory couldn't see his face. They wrestled around as he tried to pin her hands at her sides. She wriggled her hand free and tried to punch him, but he grabbed her wrist, trapping it again.
She scanned the ground for anything she could use as a weapon. Ten feet to her right, lay a long, thick branch, about four-feet in length. Her heartbeat thrummed in her ears. Sidling like a crab, she slid her phone in her pocket and picked it up, creeping toward them.
Before she could reach them, though, the male straightened up, bellowing in pain. He clutched a hand to his face. Blood covered one of the girl's hands.

Undercover in Six Inch Stilettos re-releasing this month...check out the review it got!

Re-releasing to Amazon June 2015!

Undercover in Six Inch Stilettos- Book One of the new Secret Lives of Police Wives series.

Mystery, crime-fighting, romance and humor all in one place!

Amy W. at Romancing the Book calls it a Lovely Rose in her review below:

Review:  Author Carolyn LaRoche takes the typical police/crime story and jazzes it up by introducing a fantastic cast of characters featuring police wives.
In Undercover in Six Inch Stilettos, readers are introduced to Cyndi, a happily married police wife and mother. In order to help make ends meet, she has a job on the side that she’s not exactly forthcoming about.
When one of her fellow dancers disappears, Cyndi is drawn into a web or drama and intrigue. With the support of her online group of police wives, Cyndi tries out her sleuthing skills, complete with tassels and stilettos.
Although I seriously doubt that a policeman would be so oblivious of his wife’s actions, I was impressed with the storyline. It was a breath of fresh air offering a new perspective for those of us who enjoy romantic suspense.
With a unique storyline, a perfect dance playlist and even a cross-dressing bartender, this story is packed with all the ingredients for a fun read. Not only are the main characters still rocking it between the sheets after 10 years together, but they are both perfectly depicted in their roles.
I can certainly see where the author has room for additional stories featuring the other police wives. A story featuring the one who moonlights as a 1-900 operator should be very interesting.

Meet Aunt Clara- Three Days Until Witness Protection is Re-Released!

Logan James was raised by his Aunt Clara after a devastating loss of his own parents as a preteen. His twin cousins Kaiden and Keegan are like brothers to him and despite the trauma of his youth, he was raised well and is very close to his family. When he and Angelina need somewhere safe to lay low while they figure out who is trying to kill her, Logan takes Angelina to his Aunt Clara's place in the mountains. Aunt Clara is a crack shot who says whatever is on her mind and always calls it like she sees it...

"This place belongs to your aunt?" Angelina said in disbelief.

"Sure does. After my uncle died, she inherited a tidy sum of family money that she held onto. Once the three of us boys were out of school and out on our own, she moved to this mountain. You are now looking at a large chunk of that inheritance."

Angelina opened the door of the Jeep and gingerly stepped down from the cab. Logan made a note to find her some shoes as soon as they were settled. Aunt Clara had to have something she could use.

Suddenly the door to the cabin flew open. A little woman with a very big rifle jumped through the door yelling at the top of her lungs. "Get down on the ground! I ain't afraid to use this thing! Get down!"

The woman waved the gun wildly in the air. Angelina dropped to her knees even as Logan took a step forward, laughing.

 "Aunt Clara! It's me, Logan!"

The little woman stopped yelling the instant she heard Logan's voice. With a hand held above her eyes to block out what little sun made its way through the trees, she called out, "Logan? What are you doing here?"

"Where are your glasses, Aunt Clara?" He was still laughing as he crossed the clearing between them and grabbed his slight-figured aunt up in a bear hug.

"Well, you know I got no patience for those things, boy. They just keep sliding down off my nose."

Logan laughed again. His aunt was his favorite person in the world. After the death of his mother, she was the only adult left in his life he felt that he could trust. He still felt that way.

"If you had them on you might not have come so close to shooting us!" He gestured to Angelina who was pulling herself up off the ground, disdain clouding her features. Logan frowned. The last twenty-four hours had been more of a trial for her than any one human being should have to go through. It was time to get her settled and figure out a way to get her out of this mess without endangering her life any further.

Walking back to where Angelina leaned against the Jeep watching them warily, Logan took her hand and gently led her to the cabin steps where his aunt stood squinting at them.

"Angelina Ferrara, meet my aunt, Clara James"

"Nice to meet you, Ms. James." Angelina reached out to shake the older woman's hand, but Clara grabbed her up in the same sort of bear hug he'd greeted his aunt with. Logan watched with amusement.

"Oh, posh! Call me Clara, will you! No formalities around this here place." She gestured toward the cabin behind her. "Come, let's get you inside, dear. Whatever happened to your shoes?" Clara gave her the once over from head to toe. "Hmmm...I may not have my glasses on, Logan, but isn't that the shirt I gave you for your birthday? I definitely think we all need to sit down with some hot breakfast and have a long talk."
Aunt Clara had always been insightful. Of course, him showing up with a woman she knew nothing

of wearing his clothes and shoeless probably would have set off warning bells in anyone's head, no

matter how clear their vision.

Get More Aunt Clara on May 31, 2015!

Release Week is Coming!

Sorry for the self imposed blog silence... My boys began their spring baseball season and it has been a tricky balance of day job, writing, baseball and things like cooking dinner and cleaning the house!  I love watching my boys play ball so it is not a complaint by any means. Just an explanation to let you all know where I have been.

The boys play at two different levels. My younger one is new to the concept of what we call "kid pitch" where their peers, who are just learning to control a pitch, throw the ball for them to hit. Prior to this it was a very structured coach pitch game with little chance of injury. He is adjusting but my once hard hitter has had a little trouble connecting with the ball. He feels good about the coaches this year though so I am sure he will do great. The older boy is an old pro at kid pitch. At the ripe old age of twelve, the boys are looking, throwing and hitting more like men than little boys and they play an intensive defense. Action packed for sure! His team had their first preseason scrimmage this past weekend they did extremely well. Ia m looking forward to an exciting season. If you have never caught a little league game, I highly recommend it. The boys work hard and they love an audience. You are guaranteed to have a good time.

All of that being said, as of tomorrow I will be one week away from my new release Undercover In Six Inch Stilettos. It is the first book in an exciting mystery/romance series involving a group of police wives caught up in little secrets that when they are discovered, can jeopardize their marriages and their lives. This book is full of humor and action and even some great music! I hope you will check it out. Next week I will be hosting a series of events and even a giveaway or two in preparation for release day on April 3rd. I hope you will stop on by and join us in the fun here or on Facebook or Twitter. More information to come!

Today's The Day!

Witness Protection is FINALLY available in print! For those of you who really like the feel of a book in your hand, this is the day.

Paperbacks are available right now at the publisher's website Breathless Press

If you are asked if you want to create an account, I highly recommend it. BP rewards its customers with points that translate into dollars towards free books- both ebook and print.

The paperback will also soon be available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

One of my favorite characters in the book is Logan's Aunt Clara. She is comedic and adds a little flavor to the story. Aunt Clara visits author Allie Kincheloe today where she talks a little bit about raising three boys on her own, why she lives on top of a mountain and what she hopes to accomplish before she dies. To see what she has to say, click the link below.

Meet Aunt Clara!

Another exciting stop on my blog tour this week was at Love, Romance, Passion where I shared a little about my latest inspiration- a local farm house full of historical nostalgia and the setting for the third book in my Defenders of Love series.

The farm is owned by a local business and they have welcomed my desire to put it in a book with open arms. I am very excited to return for another visit.

Curled Up With a Book

It's unusually cold here today in the south. I had an unexpected day off from work as both of my boys are sick. The temperature has consistently dropped and it actually feels like snow in our neck of the woods- not a common occurrence but it does happen.

I used the unexpected day to get caught up on some work related to my upcoming releases and somewhere in the middle of it all, I fell asleep on the sofa. With one sick child curled up in bed playing on his Kindle and another sitting at the table working on an assignment his science teacher emailed to me, the house was quiet and invited a nap.

The cold weather just sucks the life out of me!

At least winter is a great time to get a little reading done. There are so many books being released this month from Breathless Press that I can't help but get excited.

Two books from the same line as mine, the covert line that are being released in print this month have my Witness Protection in good company.

Released last week was Jinn and Toxic by Frannie Armstrong. This is next up on my to be read list.

'Toxic Tango Troop' is an elite team of soldiers tasked with halting the illegal shipment of drugs from Mexico. For a team that doesn't officially exist, someone across the border knows their every move. They were betrayed by one of their own and captured by the very people they were sent to terminate.
Jinn Dennison, and her twin Julie, are a military secret weapon, sharing a unique psychic ability that links them. When Julie disappears, Jinn covertly takes her place in order to find her before time runs out.
At least, that was the plan...Tab 'Toxic' McIntosh has one of his own. His sister was taken by the Iceman, a notorious drug runner, and he wants her back no matter the cost. Using Jinn as bait seems like the only reasonable method to save his sister.
Things don't always go as planned, especially when Jinn and Toxic fall in love. Can they battle against all odds to win the day, or will they die trying?

Blog Tour

My first ever, official blog tour began yesterday. Thanks to the amazing marketing person at Breathless Press, my book Witness Protection will be featured on eleven different book review blogs this week. All stops and dates will be listed below with links in case you are interested in checking them out. Some of the blogs come with an over 18 warning, this is because they are romance based and blogger is very cautious.

A fellow author took the time this week to help me out with some amazing promo material. I am still so new at all of this, I didn't have a clue how to do it. Everyone I have met on this publishing journey has been absolutely amazing. The promos she put together use lines from the book and I think she did a great job capturing the essense of each one. Check them out and let me know what you think:

Each of these will show up on the internet over the next few days in different book groups in preparation for my Black Friday Release Day!

To say that I am excited is an understatement. :-)
